Spiced Maple Pecans
Ingredients:
- 3 cups unsalted pecan halves
- ½ cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground ginger
- ¼ tsp ground cloves
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- ¼ tsp ground cardamom
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
In a large bowl mix the maple syrup and spices together. Add in the pecans and stir until well coated. Spread the pecans on the prepared pan in a single layer. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes, until toasted and most of the syrup is absorbed.
Let cool, then shake the nuts off of the paper. Store in a tightly sealed freezer bag till trail time – and use up within a couple weeks.
Notes:
For those who like a little salt, add a few shakes of kosher or sea salt when coating with maple syrup – or when the hot nuts come out of the oven. Buy your nuts at Costco or similar to save money. Store the big bags in a tightly sealed container in your refrigerator or freezer.
