DIY Baking Mix
Recipe Type: Dry Mixes
Description Handy sub for commercial “baking mix”.
- 4 c all purpose flour
- 1⁄2 c dry nonfat milk
- 2 T baking powder
- 1 1⁄2 t kosher salt
- 1 c shortening
- At home:
- Combine the flour, milk, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Cut in the shortening until it is small beads.
- Store in tightly closed covered container or gallon freezer bag in a cool place.
This recipe can be used for both sweet or savory recipes where “baking mix” or Bisquick© is called for. Use the same portions.[br]Feel free to use powder soy milk for the dairy milk.[br]You can also add in sugar to the base recipe if desired.
