Description

High fiber/protein oatmeal

Ingredients

  • 1⁄4 c dry milk
  • 2 T plain small tvp
  • 1 T ground flax seed
  • 1 T raisins
  • 2 T brown sugar
  • 1 c water
  • 1⁄2 c old fashioned oats
  • 1 T wheat germ

Instructions

At home:
Whirl the oats in a blender till roughly chopped. Pack all the dry ingredients in a quart freezer or sandwich bag.

FBC method:
Add 1 cup near boiling water. Mix well, seal tightly and put in a cozy for 5 minutes.

Mug method:
Add 1 cup boiling water to mix in your mug. Stir well, cover tightly and let sit for 5 minutes.

Notes

Flax seed can go stale (rancid) so only carry on shorter trips. Store your ground flax seed tightly sealed in the refrigerator to keep it fresh.
For a vegan version use rice or soy milk powder.

This oatmeal was tasty and fairly hearty. I especially liked the easy clean up by using a zip lock bag. I also liked how it sparked my own imagination to make combo's unique to me.
