Description Base recipe for quinoa
- 1⁄2 c quinoa
- 1 c water
- Add the quinoa and water to a small cooking pot (a 1 to 1.7 Liter works well). Add a pinch of salt if desired.
- Bring to a boil and let boil for 5 minutes – keep the pot’s lid on mostly and stir periodically. Lower the flame if needed.
- Take off the stove, cover tightly and insulate – either with a pot cozy or what you have on hand. Let sit for 15 minutes without disturbing.
- Fluff up and enjoy!
It is VERY important you buy a brand of quinoa that is pre-washed. Most US sold brands are, but do look. If it doesn’t say it is, pass on it![br]While this recipe might seem simple an often asked question is “Can I cook quinoa on the trail without dehydrating?”.
