Description Quick black beans and rice.
  • 3⁄4 c instant rice
  • 2 T cooked and dehydrated black beans
  • 1 T diced dried bell peppers
  • 1 T freeze-dried corn
  • 4 t black bean dip mix or black bean soup mix
  • 1 oz cheddar or pepperjack cheese
  • 1 1⁄4 c water
  1. At home pack everything but the cheese in a quart freezer or sandwich bag. Pack the cheese separately.
  2. FBC method:
  3. Add 1 cup + 2 Tbsp near boiling water and stir well. Seal tightly and put in a cozy for 15 minutes.
  4. Add in the cheese diced up and stir well.
  5. Mug method:
  6. Add 1 cup + 2 tbsp boiling water to the dry ingredients. Stir well, cover tightly and let sit for 15 minutes.
  7. Add in the cheese diced up and stir well.
Cheese carries well, for convenience get the string cheese size packets of cheddar, colby or pepperjack cheese. Each piece is tightly sealed and is one serving. Look in your grocery store near the string cheese.
