Shiitake and Beef Rice

Description Hearty beef and rice casserole.
  • 1 c instant rice
  • 1⁄4 c dried crumbled shittake mushrooms
  • 1⁄4 c cooked and dehydrated top round beef, diced
  • 1 t diced dried onion
  • 1⁄2 t low sodium beef bouillon
  • 2 pkt soy sauce
  • 1 1⁄2 c water
  1. At home:
  2. Pack the dry ingredients in a quart freezer or sandwich bag. Pack the soy sauce packets with it.
  3. Freezer bag method:
  4. Add 1 1/2 cup near boiling water. Stir well, seal tightly and put in a cozy for 15 minutes.
  5. Fluff up and add soy sauce to taste.
  6. Insulated mug method:
  7. Add 1 1/2 cup boiling water top dry ingredients. Stir well, cover tightly and let sit for 15 minutes.
  8. Fluff up and add soy sauce to taste.
Add a Tablespoon or two of diced dried carrots added in for a different version.[br]Cooked and dehydrated hamburger, freeze dried beef/hamburger or ‘Beef’ TVP can be used as a substitute for the Top Round.
